A car struck a fallen motorcyclist and then crashed into a power pole before bursting into flames on the median in front of Koh Kaew Muslim School, Phuket, at 3:00 a.m. on April 11, police said. The collision left the motorcyclist, identified as Phongsiri, 31, from Krabi, dead at the scene with his body severed in two.
Sequence of Events and Emergency Response
Witnesses told investigators that the motorcycle, registered in Bangkok, lost control and fell before being hit by a sedan following behind. The car, also with Bangkok plates, then veered onto the median, struck a streetlight, and caught fire.
Firefighters from Koh Kaew Subdistrict Administrative Organization worked to extinguish the blaze. The car’s driver, named Phutthiphong, sustained injuries and was transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital by local rescue workers.
Investigation and Forensic Actions
Police and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital conducted an initial examination at the scene. The body was then transferred to Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Officers said they plan to further question the sedan driver as part of the ongoing investigation.
