A 20-year-old student intern was allegedly assaulted repeatedly by a female chef at a hotel in Phuket, according to a social media post and CCTV footage shared online.
The post, published on 19 July 2026 by Facebook user “Feunglatda Kongeard”, said the student had been sent by her educational institution to train at the hotel. It alleged that she was slapped on the head, struck on the back and hit with a ladle, as well as being verbally abused.
The post also claimed that the student had not told her family because she feared losing her internship and being unable to complete her studies. It said co-workers later took her to Patong Hospital for treatment and accompanied her to file a complaint with investigators at Patong Police Station.
The account further alleged that she had been forced to eat undercooked rice and had faced similar treatment several times during her internship.
The allegations prompted widespread criticism online, with users calling for the school, hotel and authorities to establish the facts and protect interns.
The report said the claims and the student’s account remained under investigation. The accused chef has the right to respond and to due process.
