Phuket minimart investigated over undocumented Arab imports
Authorities seized imported products from a minimart on Ranong Road after finding missing business, food-safety, labelling, origin and tax documents.
Phuket authorities seized imported products from a minimart on Ranong Road in Phuket Town on Monday, 26 July 2026, after an inspection found the store lacked several required legal documents, according to The Phuket Express.
The shop sells consumer goods imported from Arab and Middle Eastern countries and employs Thai staff. Officials reported that no corporate registration or commercial licence was displayed, while food products lacked Food and Drug Administration registration numbers.
Authorities also found imported goods without Thai-language labels identifying product information, the manufacturer or importer. The store could not provide documents proving the products’ origin or evidence that applicable taxes had been paid.
Customs and public health officials seized the products for further examination. The owner has been given an opportunity to provide valid documentation, while relevant agencies are expected to pursue enforcement under applicable laws.
