Phuket picks 3 top OTOP products for national competition

The move was confirmed during the 2/2026 meeting of the Provincial Knowledge-Based OTOP (KBO) Network Committee, chaired by Vice Governor Teeraphong Chuaychoo at Phuket Provincial Hall earlier this week.

Phuket picks 3 top OTOP products for national competition

Phuket officials this week selected three products to represent the province in a national OTOP competition after evaluating 20 entries developed under the Knowledge-Based OTOP initiative. The decision was confirmed at the 2/2026 meeting of the Provincial Knowledge-Based OTOP Network Committee at Phuket Provincial Hall, chaired by Vice Governor Teeraphong Chuaychoo.

The meeting reviewed progress under the KBO Network Promotion Project for fiscal 2026 with provincial development officials, agency representatives and OTOP entrepreneurs attending. Officials said the programme is intended to raise OTOP standards, increase product value and strengthen competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Three products chosen from 20 entries

The Phuket Provincial Community Development Office scored 20 KBO products against competition criteria before naming the top three entries.

Those selected were fishing nets and shopper bags by the Live Like a Local group, Phuket Signature scented candles inspired by the island’s scent by the Chomhom group, and hair serum by the Arunrung Farm group.

The committee said the winning products stood out for innovation, quality and market potential. It also set the next phase of the programme around supporting high-potential entrepreneur groups and widening market access to generate sustainable community income.

Rawai site visit highlights recycled-material production

In a related development, Vice Governor Teeraphong on Tuesday, Apr 28, led the Community Product Standard Certification Committee on a site visit to the Live Like a Local brand in Rawai.

The inspection examined production processes for certified recycled-material goods and aimed to build awareness among entrepreneurs about the value of reusing waste materials.

The group turns discarded marine debris, including old fishing nets, ropes, buoys and plastic waste, into bags, household items and souvenirs. Officials said the work grew out of conditions in nearby coastal communities, where washed-ashore debris threatens the ecosystem.

By combining traditional net-weaving knowledge with modern design, the group has built products tied to local identity while promoting environmental responsibility. Teeraphong said the province will continue backing environmentally friendly community products and encourage more sustainable consumption to help protect marine resources.
