‘Operation 90 Days’ nets drug suspects in Rawai
Phuket authorities said two suspects were arrested in a July 3 anti-drug raid in Rawai, where officers seized 88 methamphetamine pills and about 0.28 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
Phuket provincial authorities said two suspects were arrested and illegal drugs were seized in Mueang Phuket District as part of the Ministry of Interior’s nationwide “Operation 90 Days” anti-narcotics campaign.
The arrests were made on the evening of July 3 at about 8:30 p.m., when the Mueang Phuket District Special Operations Unit carried out a raid in Soi Mookdee in Moo 2, Rawai Subdistrict. Officials said the operation was launched after complaints from local residents that people had been selling and using illegal drugs in the area, creating a nuisance and posing a danger to nearby homes and businesses.
The task force, known as the Rachasri Narai Unit, was led by Deputy District Chief Akkra Suwattikul together with fellow Deputy District Chiefs Apichat Chantrawong and Hirun Heedchan. The raid was supported by officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and members of the Mueang Phuket District Volunteer Defence Corps.
Authorities said a Thai man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell after officers seized 88 methamphetamine pills. In a separate case, a Myanmar national was arrested after allegedly riding a motorcycle while under the influence of drugs, and officials said about 0.28 grams of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated during the search.
Both suspects and the seized evidence were taken to Chalong Police Station for further investigation and legal action.
Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom, Deputy Governor Khaterat Chansilp and Acting Provincial Clerk Siwatch Rawangkul said the province would continue coordinating across agencies to combat drug trafficking and drug abuse. District officials said proactive inspections and enforcement operations would continue across Mueang Phuket District as part of the “Operation 90 Days” campaign to strengthen public safety and improve community well-being.
