Phuket revokes visas of 2 foreigners over obscene act in Patong tuk-tuk
Phuket revokes visas of 2 foreigners over obscene act in Patong tuk-tuk — confirmed details at this stage for Phuket readers.
Phuket Immigration on May 5 revoked the visas of two foreign nationals and moved to deport them after an obscene act on a tuk-tuk in Patong. Officials said the case involved a 41-year-old Spanish man and a 43-year-old Peruvian woman, whose conduct on May 3 drew heavy criticism on social media and damaged Phuket’s tourism image.
Investigation identified pair from images
Police said the incident happened at about 5am on May 3 on a tuk-tuk parked in a public area in Patong, Kathu district.
Investigators identified the pair as Ruben, 41, from Spain, and Cintia, 43, from Peru. Images recorded the woman performing a sexual act on the man inside the vehicle.
On May 4 at 8.30pm, Patong Police investigators and Phuket Immigration tracked them down for questioning. After being shown the evidence, both admitted they were the people in the images, officials said.
Police filed public obscenity charge
Investigators charged the pair with jointly committing an indecent act in public by exposing the body or engaging in other obscene conduct. Police said legal proceedings on that charge were completed.
Immigration then ordered both out of the country immediately, citing damage to Thailand’s moral standards and tourism image. Phuket Immigration is also compiling information to propose that the two be placed on a blacklist.
The operation was carried out by Phuket Immigration with Patong Police investigators under senior Immigration Bureau and Region 6 Immigration commanders. Phuket Immigration said it would continue strict enforcement against visitor behavior that affects public order and the province’s image.
