Phuket’s weather generally improves in November as the southwest monsoon fades, although showers and unsettled seas can still affect the start of the month, according to a Thailand weather guide published by Chiang Rai Times.
The guide gives Phuket and Krabi temperatures of about 23-31°C in November, with rainfall ranging from roughly 100 to 216 millimetres. Sea temperatures remain close to 29°C.
Rain usually decreases later in the month, improving the prospects for swimming, snorkelling, diving, boat trips and island-hopping. However, the guide says clear skies are not guaranteed, and heavy rain can disrupt boat tours, road journeys and flights in southern Thailand.
Travellers using exposed coastlines or island transfers are advised to check local forecasts before departure and allow extra time for important connections. Weather conditions can change quickly, particularly during periods of monsoon activity.
The guide describes Phuket and Krabi as stronger November beach options than Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, where the northeast monsoon can bring heavier rain, rough seas and possible ferry delays.
