Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn opens Sirisirinthorn Building at Phuket school
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited Phuket on June 1 to open the Sirisirinthorn Building at Chalermprakiat Somdet Phra Srinagarindra School Phuket and view student academic exhibits.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn traveled to Phuket on June 1 to open the Sirisirinthorn Building at Chalermprakiat Somdet Phra Srinagarindra School Phuket.
The princess arrived by royal aircraft at Phuket International Airport in Thalang district at 9.30am for a private visit to preside over the opening ceremony at the school, which is under her patronage and located in Muang district.
She was welcomed at the airport by Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthavorn, Phuket Provincial Court Chief Judge Thanayut Siwayaphrom, Fourth Army Region Commander Lt Gen Norathip Phoynork, Third Naval Area Commander Vice Adm Weerudom Muangchin, Provincial Police Region 8 Commissioner Lt Gen Sitthichai Lokanchai, Phuket airport director Monchai Tanoat, and other officials, military officers, police and representatives.
Khemwan Chuthong, vice president of the Phuket Red Cross chapter, and her delegation presented a floral garland before the royal motorcade departed for the school.
The princess arrived at the school at 10.15am, where school director Nattayaporn Sawetanon received her. She then laid a wreath and paid respects at the monument of Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, before proceeding to the Sirisirinthorn Building.
Former school director Montri Pornpol presented a commemorative book, while the current school director presented a donation for charitable purposes according to royal discretion. Pichet Phophakdee, secretary-general of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, reported on the purpose of the event, and acting Sub Lt Panjamas Masnopkhunrat, director of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office for Phangnga, Phuket and Ranong, presented 150 benefactors to receive commemorative gifts.
The princess then pressed an electric button to unveil the building sign and planted one Champi Sirindhorn tree. Inside the building, she viewed an exhibition of students' academic work integrating learning across eight subject groups. During the visit, she also wrote the Chinese characters “诗琳通”, or “Shi Lin Tong”, at the foreign languages learning section.
At 11.25am, she joined senior officials, school administrators and teachers for a group photograph and signed the guest book. She also granted an audience to the directors of Yaowawit School and Phuket Vocational College, who brought four students to report on their educational results in a reception room.
Before departing, the princess watched a student choir performance at the Sirisirinthorn Building.
