Search continues for woman who jumped from Phuket bridge
Rescue workers are searching for a 33-year-old woman believed to have jumped from the Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge into the sea on Tuesday evening.
Rescue workers were searching on Wednesday for a woman who reportedly jumped into the sea from the Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge linking Phuket with mainland Phangnga on Tuesday evening.
Eyewitnesses said the woman parked a black Mercedes-Benz C350e on the 650-metre bridge at about 6.40pm, left the engine running and jumped from a point about five metres away. Local people took boats out to look for her, but the strong current carried her away, according to Ban Tha Chatchai village head Panupan Jindapol.
The vehicle, registered in Bangkok with licence plate 2 Khor Yor 9494, was left at the scene. A pair of slippers was found beside it.
A personal document found inside the car identified the woman as Ms Kanthaporn, a 33-year-old native of Pathum Thani province, according to the report.
