The body of a 33-year-old woman reported missing after entering the sea from Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge has been found on a beach in Mai Khao.

Rescue workers have found the body of Kanthaporn Churasri, 33, who was reported missing after entering the sea from Thao Thep Krasattri Bridge linking Phuket and Phang Nga.

Workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation found her body at about 7.35am on Thursday, 30 July, at Dan Yid Beach in Moo 3, Mai Khao, near Phuket International Airport, The Phuket News reported.

Investigators and forensic officers examined the scene before the body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Her relatives were contacted to claim her body for religious rites.

Ms Kanthaporn, from Pathum Thani province, was reported missing at about 6.45pm on Tuesday, 28 July, after witnesses said she entered the water from the Phang Nga side of the bridge.

A black Mercedes-Benz C350e, registered in Bangkok, was found parked on the 650-metre bridge with its engine running. Officers also found a pair of slippers and identification documents belonging to Ms Kanthaporn, which enabled police to contact her relatives.

Police from Tha Chatchai Police Station in Phuket and Khok Kloi Police Station in Phang Nga, rescue workers, local officials and volunteers searched by boat and from the bridge through Tuesday night and Wednesday.

Authorities have not disclosed what may have led to the incident. The investigation is continuing.
