Phuket generated over 4 billion baht in revenue during the Songkran 2026 festival, government officials reported on April 15. National data highlighted Siam Square in Bangkok as the single most visited site, drawing 183,544 people, while the overall festival atmosphere remained lively across all regions.
Regional Highlights and Visitor Data
Bangkok hosted Songkran events at more than 91 locations, with six main venues recording a total of 558,561 attendees by April 12. Silom Road and IconSiam ranked second and third in visitor numbers after Siam Square, officials said.
In southern Thailand, Songkhla and Nakhon Si Thammarat saw an influx of international tourists, particularly from Malaysia and Singapore. Eastern provinces extended festivities with Chonburi and Pattaya’s “Wan Lai” events running through the end of April, and Rayong promoting a durian-themed Songkran street.
Northern cities like Chiang Mai held a 12-day “Pee Mai Muang” festival, while Khon Kaen’s “Khao Niew Road” remained a key draw in the northeast. The government attributed the widespread economic impact to strong domestic spending and increased opportunities for local businesses.
