An 18-year-old student was praised after performing CPR on an unconscious foreign tourist in Kathu, Phuket, on May 8, according to posts widely shared on social media. Witnesses said the man collapsed in front of a Khao Cha Yen shop, hit his head on the road and suffered a bleeding injury before the teenager rushed in to help.
Jojo Travers, who was selling mala skewers nearby after school, began CPR while bystanders waited for paramedics and an ambulance. After several minutes, the tourist reportedly showed signs of responsiveness and regained consciousness, prompting applause from people at the scene.

Further reports identified Jojo as a Grade 12 student at Kathu Wittaya School. Social media posts said he regularly sells mala skewers after classes to help support his education.
A widely shared Facebook post praised his quick thinking and said he did not hesitate despite the seriousness of the incident.
Residents commenting online said the immediate CPR effort may have been crucial in keeping the tourist alive until emergency medical workers arrived. Many users described Jojo as “an excellent young man” and “a good kid for society.”
The rescue has since been shared widely online as an example of compassion and volunteer spirit among Phuket’s youth.
