ThaiBev joins Phuket temple fundraiser for shelter serving poor patients and families
ThaiBev joined a Phuket fundraiser to support construction of the Baan Pueng Wat Phuket shelter for poor patients and relatives receiving treatment at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, or ThaiBev, joined a fundraising ceremony in Phuket for the “Baan Pueng Wat Phuket” project, which aims to build accommodation for poor patients and their relatives while they receive treatment at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
The event was held on July 9 at Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham in Phuket. ThaiBev said its chief executive officer, Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, took part together with advisers, executives and employees in a thot phapa merit-making ceremony to help raise construction funds.
According to the report, donors from various sectors and Phuket residents also joined the effort. The project is intended to provide suitable temporary lodging for patients and family members who travel for treatment at Vachira Phuket Hospital.
Thapana said the project’s main objective is to help patients and their families have appropriate accommodation during treatment, and that he was pleased to take part in creating social value and extending opportunities to people in need. He said the fundraiser reflected the power of giving and sharing among Buddhist donors.
The report said Baan Pueng Wat Phuket expands on the former Vachira Banphot building initiative started by Phra Khru Banphot Saratham, also known as Por Than Khai, at a house on the slopes of Khao Rang. The Sirivadhanabhakdi Foundation and ThaiBev, along with other donors, are continuing the project.
The shelter is intended to ease expenses for poor patients and relatives during treatment at Vachira Phuket Hospital and improve quality of life for those battling illness. Patients and relatives will be screened by the hospital before admission. The project aims to accommodate about 100 people in an environment focused on calm, comfort and safety. Guests will be able to stay for the period stated in their referral documents, and meals will be supported through Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham’s food program to help reduce costs.
The ceremony raised 5,785,215 baht in donations, the report said. Donations can also be made to the Baan Pueng Wat account at Government Savings Bank, account number 0-204-8133-2086. The report said the fund has a clear, transparent and auditable management system, with income and spending reported every quarter.
