Three arrested, B300,000 in assets seized in Chalong meth bust
Police said more than 50 officers joined “Operation 1386: Combating Drugs” in Chalong, where three suspects were arrested and methamphetamine and assets worth more than 300,000 baht were seized.
Three people were arrested in Chalong during a coordinated anti-drug operation in which police also seized narcotics and assets valued at more than 300,000 baht.
The operation, dubbed “Operation 1386: Combating Drugs”, was launched by the Office of the Narcotics Control Board Region 8 in cooperation with Chalong Police, the Investigation Division of Provincial Police Region 8, local administrative officials and public health officers.
More than 50 officers took part in the operation, which began with a briefing and show of force at Chalong Police Station led by Pol. Lt. Col. Kittikhun Puangnakphan, described in the source as a narcotics suppression expert with ONCB Region 8, who emphasized unity and readiness in addressing drug crime.
After the briefing, officers simultaneously raided two targeted locations within Chalong’s jurisdiction. Police said the raids resulted in the arrest of three suspects.
Authorities confiscated 119.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine, or ice, and 15 methamphetamine tablets, also known as yaba. The suspects were charged with selling Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell without permission for commercial purposes, distributing drugs within the community, and using Category 1 narcotics in violation of the law.
The three were taken to Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings.
Police also seized property believed to be connected to drug trafficking activities. The items included a Honda CB650F motorcycle, four electric guitars, one computer and a PlayStation gaming console. Authorities estimated the total value of the seized assets at more than 300,000 baht.
According to the source, the assets will be examined and processed under Thailand’s anti-narcotics asset forfeiture laws.
Officials said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and reduce the availability of illegal drugs in Phuket. Authorities said enforcement against drug dealers, couriers and others supporting the narcotics trade would continue, and urged the public to report drug-related activity through the ONCB hotline 1386, the ONCB website or the Royal Thai Police emergency number 191.
