Two Patong hotel chefs arrested over alleged assault of intern

Patong police arrested two women accused of assaulting a 20-year-old hotel intern in a hotel kitchen and forcing the trainee to eat uncooked rice, Thai Post reported on 20 July 2026.

The suspects, aged 41 and 36, allegedly slapped the intern, struck the trainee's arm with a spatula and forced the victim to eat uncooked rice in front of colleagues, according to the report. The incident took place at a hotel in Patong, Kathu district, Phuket, and a video of the alleged assault was later circulated online.

Police from Patong station brought both suspects before investigators and reported charges of jointly assaulting another person and coercion. They were then detained and sent to court, the report said.
