Vulnerable family receives new home in Wichit
A fisherman and his son have received a newly built home in Moo 1, Wichit, under a government-supported housing assistance project.
A vulnerable family in Wichit has received a newly built home under the Caring Home from the Heart GLO project, which provides housing support to households identified as needing assistance.
The house in Moo 1 was handed over on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, to fisherman Somsak Klaewthanong. He has an unstable income and lives with his son, who has chronic kidney disease and works as a labourer.
The joint initiative by the Ministry of Interior’s Department of Community Development and the Government Lottery Office provides B200,000 towards the construction of each house. Households are identified through the Thai People Map and Analytics Platform, which assesses social welfare needs.
Construction was carried out from May 29 to June 26 by the Mueang Phuket District Office. Wichit Municipality provided engineering support, supervised the project and inspected the completed house.
Representatives of the Phuket Provincial Red Cross, Mueang Phuket District Office, Wichit Municipality, government agencies and local community leaders attended the handover ceremony. Phuket Vice Governor Romdon Hayiawae congratulated the family and thanked the agencies involved.
Officials said the programme aims to provide secure housing and improve the quality of life of vulnerable households through cooperation between government agencies and local communities.
