PDPC opens PDPA Centre at Phuket City police station
A new PDPA Centre at Phuket City police station will provide advice on personal-data rights, complaint procedures and data-protection risks.
The Office of the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) has officially opened PDPA Centres in Phuket and Ubon Ratchathani to provide in-person advice, guidance on personal-data rights and complaint services under Thailand’s personal data protection law.
The Phuket centre is located at Phuket City Police Station, 1 Chumphon Road, Talat Yai, Mueang Phuket district.
A PDPC deputy secretary-general for legal affairs and cases said the centres were established to bring services closer to people in the provinces. Although complaints and enquiries can be submitted online, some people need to speak directly with officials, particularly when they need advice about supporting documents or evidence.
Residents can seek guidance on the unauthorised collection, use or disclosure of personal data; unwanted calls, messages or advertisements; the publication of images and personal information on social media; and concerns about the security of customer or service-user data held by organisations.
The centres will also organise lectures on the Personal Data Protection Act, case studies of data breaches, risk-prevention guidance and workshops for public agencies, organisations and residents.
The PDPC said it would continue building co-operation networks with government agencies, the private sector, civil society and local organisations so the centres can serve as points for listening, advice and prevention as well as complaint intake.
The Ubon Ratchathani centre is located at Ubon Ratchathani City Police Station on Sapphasit Road in Mueang Ubon Ratchathani district.
