Turkish man found dead in Kamala residence
Police said a 30-year-old Turkish man was found dead in a three-storey residence in Kamala, Phuket, on May 26, with no signs of assault or foul play.
A 30-year-old Turkish man was found dead in a house in Kamala, Phuket, on May 26, police said.
Officers from Kamala Police Station were called after rescue workers reported the case at about 3:30pm. Police went to the three-storey residence in Bang Wan Village, behind the Kamala Child Development Center near the Kamala reservoir, in Kamala subdistrict, Kathu district.
Police and rescue workers found the man’s body near the bedroom door on the third floor. Investigators said there were no signs of physical assault, foul play or struggle.
According to police, traces of bodily fluids were found on the man’s face, and vomit was discovered in the toilet.
A 27-year-old Turkish friend told police he last saw the man alive at about 3am. He said the man had been coughing, vomiting and complaining of back pain. The friend told investigators the deceased regularly used marijuana alongside medication to relieve his symptoms and had used marijuana on the night before his death. The two later went to sleep in separate rooms.
The friend said he woke at about 3pm, found the man unresponsive and then alerted rescue workers.
Police said a search of the room uncovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and evidence of marijuana use. Investigators reported no signs of forced entry, ransacking or a struggle inside the residence.
Forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital conducted a preliminary examination at the scene before the body was transferred to Patong Hospital for further legal procedures and an examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Kamala Police said they were coordinating with the Turkish Embassy to help notify relatives and arrange religious rites.
